There are like a million different Chartered whatever designations in the world.
Why I google “charterholder”, only CFA designation comes up.
Isn’t it because CFAI have copyrighted the word “charterholder”? Because it can not be the fact CFA is the most Chartered, since other Chartered dignations such as the Chartered Accountants are much more prevalent than CFA.

What’s the point of the question? Is it so you can use the charterholder word?

Kuromusha, This is realy good question to start with. However, you need to know IP and trademark policy first to understand why words like these can not be patented.
So straight answer to this is, no one should even try to register “Chartholder”? leave CFAI registering it!
Let me know if this satisfy you querry.

So I can just call myself “Charterholder” as long as it’s not “CFA Charterholder”?

You can call yourself King of the Ancient Martians if you so desire.
If, however, you are planning to refer to yourself as a Charterholder with the intention of giving the impression that you might be a CFA Charterholder, then you are most certainly in violation of the Code and Standards.

What if you stopped worrying about all of this silliness and concentrated on passing the Level I exam?
