What do you think?
Having written the exam last year and having done several morning mocks, I realized that I’ve been losing way too much time on the IPS questions, which leaves me with little time to do easier, non-IPS questions.
Is this the case with most people?
If so, do you think it would be a good strategy to do the IPS questions last on the AM section of the exam?

Yes it is a good idea and I am considering doing it this way too. However, you will still have to make sure that you do not spend too much time on the easy parts since IPS questions are significant % of the morning exam.

You can get bogged down in the IPS questions very easily. I’d start with something you know cold and then work your way back to the IPS questions.

IMO risky strategy given IPS is largest weight. Plus you will feel more rushed if save for last potentially blanking on huge 25, 30pt question.

I guess that could go either way, depending on how well you know the other material.
Going to try the strategy today with a mock, see if it makes a difference.

I wouldn’t necessarily try to answer the IPS question last – but I definitely wouldn’t doing it first as you begin the exam. (Key concept to take home: try to pick the low-hanging fruit, first.)

I will try to do IPS first on the exam. The questions are quite tricky and they require that you read the case very carefully. After 2,5h of writing I’ll probably be too tired and miss something.
If you do them in the right order, usually there’s something like performance eval. or asset allocation at the end, which focusses more on calculation but where it’s often no drama if you misunderstand something in the story.

I think I’ll just go in the order as they appear in the exam cos I could get hang up on other questions later on too

Not sure about that.
I did an exam this morning. Was about 5-7 minutes short when doing the IPS questions at the end.
I actually felt like I understood things better because my brain had already woken up by that time.
Usually I feel sleepy for the first few questions. I guess it depends on the day too, but I feel like time pressure makes you more concise, which is key for the IPS.
