eBook and print version of curriculum now sold separately?

You can access the eBooks via Virtual Bookshelf when you receive your redemption code in an e-mail after your order has been processed. That same e-mail will direct you how to purchase the print version if you so choose.

Unlike in past years where the Hard Copy versions were included in the price of the Exam Registration, the Hard Copy versions of the Curriculum now cost $150 + $25 for shipping.
This is not at all reasonable.

For those of us that use the print copies, I now have to study in front of a PC or spend more money on some sort of e-reader which I cannot even takes notes on …
This is awful. I guess the Cash Cow just gets hungrier and hungrier.
What is next $5,000 in annual dues ? Failure to pay results in stripping the credential.

If I order the print books, do they ship immediately? Or will they not be released for several months?

You CAN print up to 150 pages of the ebook at a time. This is the length of the longest study section in the curriculum. So essentially, they will let you print out each section no problem, but I am unaware of any cap on total print pages or pringint out pages multiple times.
Seems to me like the CFAI is starting to realize that most candidates do NOT use thes mataerials to prepare for the exam anyway, so as long as Kaplan/Elan/etc. keep up the good work, we should all be in decent shape not using the official curriculum books anyways.

Ebooks are great for storage BUT it’s very difficult to highlight and stuff (if that’s what you like to do when you study). Flipping back and forth when you are doing the EOC questions can be a bit clumpsy as well. You may want to print out the questions or answer, that’s my tip.
But for me, i like to refer to information quickly so having the search function on ebook is better.

If you happen to have an iPad (or likely any other tablet) you can highlight and take notes as you see fit. I got a ton of use out of my iPad during my Level 2 studying. I loved it.
