All this time loss from printing errors is a huge time waste when you should be spending your time studying for the exams, am I right? There are multiple threads complaining about problems with printing CFA material from Vitalsource Bookshelf so I’ve posted this to each thread where it is relevant:
Printing seems to be restricted to one reading at a time. If this was the CFA Institute’s official policy it would display a total lack of regard for the valuable time of CFA candidates. There are 50 to 60 readings on each level of the CFA curriculum. Over 120,000 people will take the Level I, II and III exams combined next June. Imagine how many human life equivalents are going to be lost when tens of thousands of them are forced to print 50 to 60 readings instead of printing a single document!
However I think this may not not the a policy issue - I think printing may be restricted due to a formatting error made by Wiley/the CFA Institute/Vitalsource. If it is an error, I think the lost human life equivalents are an even bigger disgrace and have written to the CFA to request that they get it fixed. Regardless of whether it is policy or an error, I would strongly encourage anyone encountering the same issue to email the CFA Institute at
[email protected] to complain and to request that they take action to allow printing of the entire ebook. The issue will only be fixed if the CFA institute know that a lot of CFA candidates are unhappy about this. Wiley and Vitalsource have no incentive to do anything unless they know that the CFA Institute wants the issue resolved.
Here’s why I think the print issues are a result of an error on the part of the CFA Institute/Wiley/Vitalsource:
I contacted Vitalsource about this and responded with the following.
Hello,
Thank you for contacting VitalSource Support. CFA 2015 changed the formatting with their eBook, and there are errors with printing that we and Wiley (publisher of CFA content) are fully aware of. Unfortunately there are no workarounds nor a date as to when this will be resolved. I do apologize for the inconvenience,
Marvin J.

These books have been out for over 7 months and they haven’t fixed this simple formatting error, resulting in massive time lost for tens of thousands of busy CFA candidates. What a disgrace!
