EBooks for iPad

Have any of you tried using the eBook CFA curriculum on the iPad? I used mine to study and found it invaluable but I don’t know if it is possible to read them through the iBooks PDF reader or one of the apps.
 
I am actually contemplating getting the E book to use on and I pad or my laptopp for Level 2. I do not know if it will add any value to my reading experience but I am desparate to improve my passing chances since I am resitting L2.
What is anyone take on E books, do they add value, i.e make reading easier and faster?
 
I get to cheat at work with the E-book. When I am through with pressing work, I just sit and read and everybody thinks I’m really busy.

I’m pretty sure studying for the exam on company time is a violation of the code :-)
 
not sure if i understood the OP, are you able to use the ebooks on the ipad or no? can you view them using the safari web browser?

Hehe… this is a priority of transaction thing. When you are through with your employers’ transactions, then you can do yours, right? Nothing against the code here.
 
But are you using Safari, and if so, do you have full functionality?

Does anyone know if you end up hating the ebooks, can you then order the hard copies at the extra $90-$100 cost?
 
Well, that was very insightful post.
Problem is I do have a laptop, and there is no way I’m going to sit and read that thing for an extended period of time. For me, it’s printed books or some form of e-reader.

You can print ebook into pdf (max 170 pages per print) using Acrobat. However, text looks very burry and grey on Kindle DXG. Unreadable unless you zoom in which is very impractical
 
I am an ebook fan, rarely buy paper anymore. I ordered the ebook so I can say a few things about its portability. It is not in a format that can be read by any of the dedicated ebook readers out there - Sony, Kindle, Nook, Kobo etc. They require books to be in either epub or mobi depending on the device. These books are in a proprietary drm’d “vbk” format. Having said that I found an app for my ipod touch from Vital Source that I am sure will work with the Ipad too and might be better than the pure browser experience. It was free so you might want to give it a try. I expect it will require connectivity to access the cloud version of the text rather than downloading the book onto the device itself so offline work probably won’t be possible. I doubt I will spend a lot of time reading on my touch but I might if I had an Ipad.

I did not use eBook for Level 1 So I have following questions about it
Can the eBook read the text for us?
Can we mark important points on it?
Can we take notes on the side of eBook?
If I read the Ebook myself first and then make eBook read it loud to me and then switch to manual reading does it start reading loud from the point/marker/mouse pointer where you stop or does it start from beginning?

Does the e book functionality need one to be connected to the internet in order to use it?
 
You can download the books to two computers I believe in order to facilitate offline work. Presumably this syncs with the online version to keep your notetaking current. There are notes, highlighting, export functions but i haven’t experimented to figure out how good/user friendly they are.
 
I am debating on which device to get, and now the CFAI giving me a e-book copy confuses the whole bit.
I am Blackberry dude, have been for a very long time. On tuesday they are going to release details of there Pad…wasn’t thrilled with their storm…but this looks more promising.
The new kindle looks good too and will have 3G access….
IPAD - so fresh and so clean. nuff said.
Also what is that in the email we have to download the e-book within 7 days? What if I want them installed on my future ebook? Is it just a file that I can transport to ebook reader?
