Elan Mocks (Particularly #3)

I just took the 3rd Elan Mock– have not yet graded it– but found it to be sort of “out there”– as in testing concepts that weren’t covered as much in the others and the CFAI mock I took.
Also, some of the wording was off (like a language issue, maybe?) and that added to my frustration. I have been scoring well on all previous mocks 73-80%, and I hope this doesn’t shatter my confidence. Any others out there with comments to share on the third Elan Mock?

I took the 3rd Elan mock last week (AM session only) and found it very tough (scored 55%, did decent in FI and econ, terrible in quant and equity). Probably didn’t get a single 2 statement problem correct. I was very drained by the end, but I do feel that I learned a lot after I went back and worked on the problems that I got wrong.
It was def much tougher than the sample exams that the CFAI offers, which are the only things I can compare it to atm.
arrested dev is a fantastic show btw
 
Yeah, Arrested Development is awesome.
Just scored it. I did horrible in quant on both sections, pretty bad on both econ sections, not great on the morning ethics and not great on the afternoon fsa and corp fin. My only redeeming takeaway was that I went 28 for 28 on the fixed income… otherwise my score would have been in the gutter…

Yep, took it today. It did have some very decent stuff…
In quite a few questions, I said ‘What the …’ after looking at the answer option but said ‘Oh wow, that’s right!’ after reading the solution…

I’m getting frustrated, scored 57/58 and then 60/60 on #2 then #1, not making as much progress as I’d like. I’m completely going over the material in my weak sections; Econ (only did the one read through), FI and especially Quant and FRA, those last two are killing me!
 
The 3rd Elan mock is tough .I remember it shook my confidence .I didn’t even complete it. the actual exam was easier.I liked
Elan’s study material but hated their not sticking to schedule.
 
I just got done taking the 2nd Elan mock (AM only). My god, what a difference. Got a 70% today vs a 55% on the 3rd mock last week (did the mocks out of order). Scored much better in every category today except 1. Very relieved right now because I was very nervous after getting such a low score last week on the 3rd one.
 
I was going to take it next weekend but since its so tough I guess ill take it sooner.
 
just read this thread. scored 66/72 and 72/75 on elan 1 and 2. also took schweser mock online and scored 75/76. thinking i would score in same range and the 3rd elan rocked me. Scored a 55% in the am section havent taken the afternoon yet. anyones confidence shook after taking this one…. i feel im back to square one.
 
Been scoring in the mid 70s on Mock 1 an 2. Taking the AM session of Mock 3 tomorrow.
 
Hi there,
just finished reviewing and took CFA Mock exam and came out 65% morning and 70% afternoon session so I feel like I’m almost there??? Which are the best resources for additional Mocks as this is probably all I’m going to do for the next week. Questions and more questions and only read up on stuff that I couldn’t answer.
Are there any free Mocks avaialble on the net or should I just go to Schweser or Elan and purchase some exams with those providers? and which one is best????? Cheers,
 
johnnyhay let me know what you think of the 3rd elan. seems our scores are similar. taking the second half of the 3rd third this weekend.
 
I just took the morning session of Elan Mock 3…Ethics slightly confusing (much more difficult than Schweser live mock from last weekend), Quant was very different than what seems to be tested on other mocks, and Econ was not too bad.
FI was pretty easy, and FRA was right in line with other mocks…
Overall, I wouldn’t waste time taking Mock 3…just read the answer section quickly for a refresher…best of luck
 
I just did the AM session and got 75%. Its definitely hard but I would highly recommend taking it or at least going through the answers.
 
Took the 3rd, scored 71%. I thought econ and fsa was the toughest…The two statement questions killed me..hopefully pm is better..
 
Can you purchase this exact mock anywhere - or is it too late? I’ve been strictly schweser and been averaging high 70’s to low 80’s on Volume 2.
This mock seems to be a good challenge.
For anyone who has purchased this exam, can you provide the link - I don’t want to purchase an incorrect one.

i just took the morning session of Mock 3, 83%, woohoo!
I normally really struggle with FRA but found that section easier than usual.
However, others that I’m normally more confident in (especially quant, equity and alt investments) were really tough. 1/4 in alt investments, arghh!
i agree this exam was harder than the other Elan mocks. here’s hoping the afternoon session goes ok.
