Engineering Background - CFA

Hello,

I'm a mechanical engineer with 5 years experience looking to take the CFA exams. I do not have any experience in finance/financial analysis, however, I do have a masters degree from USA and other industry certifications in statistics and six sigma. Will the CFA designation by itself suffice for a career change?

Has anyone on the forum with a background similar to mine taken the CFA Lev I?
