Guys, in the “Proper and improper references to the CFA designation” (Exhibit 3 of reading 2) it says “Level III CFA Candidate” is an improper use. And yet, everyone in this forum has an identical reference like the one given as “improper” in the book. Does that mean we all are violating this standard????
 
And it also says “Given the growing popularity of social media, where individuals may anonymously express their opinions, pseudonyms or online profile names created to hide a member’s identity should not be tagged with the CFA designation”… So there again… same question…
 
I thought you could use the “candidate” language as long as you were actually signed up for the exam.
 
i thought so too.. But I was just re-reading the Ethics section and I noticed that. Is that a mistake? Coz I remember reading in Level I that stating that you are a level II candidate is alright.

“CFA Program Candidates
If you are a candidate in the CFA Program, you may indicate your status—in the Education section—based on
  • The exam level you are currently registered for or the level of the exam you recently sat for (if you haven’t yet received your result):
    • 2014 Level I Candidate in the CFA Program
    • 2015 Level II Candidate in the CFA Program
    • 2015 Level III Candidate in the CFA Program
  • Or the level you have completed, e.g., “Passed Level II of the CFA Program”
If you have completed all three levels of the CFA Program, but have not completed the work experience requirement, you may state: “Passed all three levels of the CFA Program and may be awarded the charter upon completion of the required work experience.”
Do not use your candidacy in the Heading of your profile. Do not indicate an “Expected” date.”
