ethics violation??

I am currently a Level III candidate.

My employer told me that he is going to order me new business cards with the CFA trademark this week.

Obviously I wouldn't use the new business card until I receive the charter. Would ordering the new business cards prior to receiving the charter be a violation of the Standards?
 
premeditated ethics violation? as long as you don't commit the act, no one will know.
 
I don't think it would be a violation, because if nobody distributes the business cards then it doesn't result in any disinformation or watering down of the designation.
 
Tell your employer he is a freaking moron. Why would you order business cards with the CFA on them when the earliest you could use them would be mid-late Sept. Even after you pass you have to wait for CFAI to approve your application.

Not to mention what if you fail. Surely, he is just screwing with you. I find it hard to believe anyone who would do this could be very successful.
 
You are a minimum 4-5 months away from being able to use the cards, so if you are running out, buy more of the old ones.

Yes, I have the experience and have joined a society.

Also, I will make sure to tell my boss he's a "freaking moron" and I'll let you guys know how that goes over...

Order whatever you want - I order business cards that say 'Joey D Vivre Federal Reserve Chairman' just for fun.

don't forget to make it twice as large as your name and be sure to indicate you passed them all on the first try and then state that you have superior knowledge and wait - you are a CFA not a CFA charterholder (talk about redundancy - Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder) and oops, i think they took that last part out of ethics. what a joke. ok i'm resentful b/c i didn't pass CFA - I (oops, Level I of the CFA exam) well maybe cause i was spending all my time doing financial modeling videos to get a damn job instead of studying for that exam. hahahahaha sigh. Dec here we come.
 
No I really do hand out cards to women at bars that say I am the Federal Reserve Chairman. If they buy it, who knows what else they will buy?
 
this actually was either an old schweser practice question or a cfai practice question. In any event it's not a violation if they're not handed out.
 
Joe, where are these bars that women would be impressed with this?
