I think you guys are reading the curve implications wrong. First, I am not sure that the Indian population scores better than any other. Second, all this will do is cause those who are currently confident in their knowledge to seek alternate accomodations whereas slackers who already paid and otherwise would have lowered the curve will now view this as a free pass to get out with a refund.

This "good news - it'll help me pass" attitude kinda misses the point.

Its like a conversation about whether a bomb in New York would be good for glass window fitters.i.e. it possibly would, but its not really the thing to be focussing on.

I respect that general point of view, but having a 1 year delay in taking the CFA exam is NOT analogous to being killed by a terrorist.

Argggh! <bangs head against the wall>

An analogy highlights the similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar.

Obviously the fact that one is a bomb in a city centre and the other is an exam is the bit that I consider *dissimilar*. Now try and find the bit that I consider similar...

i am concerned about the refund amount..

Indian Rupee has appreciated considerably in the recent past..and Indian capital market returns in the last few months has also been good..

dunno whether the cfa will consider these while refunding the amount

:-)

"And i should sue it for the reduction in the perceived status of the charter."

You don't really believe that do you? Do you think the dozen other charterholders in my office give a rats ass about this. And if I were to land an interview tomorrow at another buyside shop, do you think the person interviewing me is going to give a rats ass about the screw-up in India? Most buysiders already view CFA Institute with disdain anyway, this event is simply a non-event.

That said, I think at a minimum, a full refund is a no-brainer.

crucial, wonder how much revenue CFAI is losing and it's potential affect on future CFAI benefits/quality of curriculum, etc.

assuming indians score higher, the curve is lowered and people that dont deserve to pass will pass.

Dear CFA Candidate:

We learned today that the Delhi High Court has not made a decision on our petition to allow us to hold the CFA exams in India on 03 June.

As you may know, we filed a writ petition with the Delhi High Court on 24 May. After hearing arguments today, the High Court has held over the case for another day, and said it plans to reach a decision on Wednesday, 30 May.

Many of you have already requested alternate test centers outside of India, or have requested to defer or cancel your exams, and we continue to process those requests.

As a reminder, if you have received confirmation of your alternate test center, or if you wish to cancel or defer your exam, you do not need to contact us. If you do not sit for the exam on 03 June, we will contact you to process information for a deferral or refund.

Meantime, please continue to check our website at www.cfainstitute.org/india for new information as it becomes available.

I'd like to thank you for your patience and understanding throughout this challenging time.

Sincerely,

Jeff Diermeier, CFA
President and CEO
CFA Institute

Not anymore

>> CFA Institute to pay $300 for taking exams abroad

Trust God and keep your powder dry

there's something on the logistics here:
they claim going to Katmandu to take the exams there will cost $300 for travel and accommodation, hence the $300
