As a little distraction from the craze to know result dates, I would like some advice on this issue bugging me.
From a recent thread "Is this a violation" it was accepted as not a violation when there's a reference to CFA candidacy on a CV, a move seen to lure potential employers.

What happens in a situation where a candidate has little or no Finacial Services experience but references CFA candidacy on CV before or after passing any CFA level exam? In this case for someone attempting a new career move into FS.

You can put on your CV the reference to CFA only if you have paid the Fees for the next exam. If you have not paid your CFA registration fees for the next exam dont use it on your resume.

I would use this way it if I paid the fees "Appearing for CFA level 1 exam in December 2007". This is not a violation. And could help your employers undstnd that you might need time off for your studies.

If you want to place it on your resume, you better get the wording correct:

Level I Candidate in the CFA Program

see pg. 104

Thanks for that. The referencing bit is not really the issue but the fact that i have limited FS experience going into IB. Would the reference count for or substitute for some experience?

Not a replacement for experience, far from it. I does show you have done some research and enrolled in the best program. I would include it, it shows intent and motivation. Others will state leave it off, as anyone can enroll. You are better with it on your resume because it will show up in keyword searches if you apply through a company's website.

Thanks again. I hope its recieved like that when I put it on my resume. You can imagine how challenging it is preparing for the exam and working in an industry that is unrelated.

SWITCHING OFF from work mode @ 5:30pm (mon - fri) and switching back on to CFA mode @8pm has been my motto. My main aim is to see if i can have a single mode of operation if i get into IB.

n/b weekend: only one mode....?

My day job is not 100% relevant to what I'm studying right now either. And I also never get off work at 5:30. So there's much worse than you think ;)
