Is it worth spending the $40 for 60 extra questions from CFAI?
These are my scores in order of taking them, (first to most recent)
70 Schweser
73 CFA Mock Morning
64 Schweser
70 Schweser
73.3 CFA Mock Afternoon
75 Schweser
81.67 Schweser
73.3 Schweser (This one felt really hard it was the last one in the Vol 1 book)
80 Schweser (Felt mad easy, first one Vol 2 book)
Are Schweser examples purposefuly setup so the earlier ones in each volume are easy and get progressively more difficult?

just crunched the numbers on your tests (I included the AM and PM as one test) and you have a mean of 73.4 and a stdeviation of 5.68. So, you have a roughly 17.5% chance of getting below a 68 on the real thing, if these things are accurate..That’s a pretty good chance, not sure that the extra problems will help anyone except the institute.

funny. It can’t hurt and the samples are better than schweser. Good scores though. Good luck.

i will say though, has anyone actually taken those? I did take both, and while i don’t think they will significantly help me for the test, i did find them to be significantly harder than schweser or the mock cfa..
THoughts?

I took two of the $40 tests, since I only used the books cfa provide to prepare I thought some prac questions would be worth it, in hindsight i probably should have bought some elan or schweser prep materials.
I passed one of the $40 samples and failed the other, but they are only 60 questions long so the average of the two is probably more important, the average is still a fail for me. I am hopelessly unprepared for this weekends test and wondering if I should sit it, especially since I have to get on a plane to get to the test centre…islands.

Yup, same here, especially in the second one

When I took the CFA exams, I bought all the CFAI extra questions, in addition to the Schweser practice exams, QBank, etc. The CFAI questions probably didn’t affect the outcome of the tests. However, they helped my confidence a bit - it makes you believe that you’ve taken every possible step to prepare for the exams.

don’t skip the exam. you’ve come this far so finsih it. worst thing that could happen is you fail but get the experience of real cfa exams. this can help you in your prep for next yr. best thing that could happen is you pass!!! if you skip you miss out on the chance to pass and the chance to experience the real thing.

I used those exams for every level. spent lots of money each time and found it helpful. I don’t even know how much it cost, but i don’t care as it helped me pass the exam.
good luck to you all. every question counts!

CFAI questions are exam proxy questions. I would suggest you take them as they will boost up your confidence level.
