Failed Band 9 once more this year. Amused at my results. I don’t have the strength to manage job, markets, my passion for value investing and family. So deciding not to go ahead and give this program a good bye.
Congratulations to all who passed, you guys deserve the glory. I am not meant for this program.
A painful goodbye but the good part is shocking results did not affect me personally. I am as happy and cheerful as before.

I am on the same boat, after 4 years of studies and 2 fails at level 3, I am now giving up. I have 2 kids and they are more important than this charter. I am not amused anymore by this band 9-10 kind of borderline game.
Congrats to all who passed !

This is so sad. I really feel for you guys. And I can completely understand you. There are more important things than the charter. But maybe one day you decide that you will give it another try. Either way, all the best for you!!!

Do not give up. If needed, take a year off, you cleared the tough level 2 exam….
I failed as well, band 4, although disappointed, I’m not devisated - I’m more happy I cleared level 2 and I do see the light at the end of the tunnel…
It’s also the luck of the draw, in the morning session I got < 50% on equity, yet afternoon session > 70% so maybe next year we’ll be luckier…
I think its important to just have balance, but definitely the CFA is totally NOT more important than your health, friends, or family….

I would honestly give it 1 more try :) .. or even more..

Bilal,
It was exactly as we hypothesized after the test. AM was straight forward and PM had tricky stuff. I passed as well. Congrats!

I could not imagine trying to study for this thing with an intense job, wife, kids, etc. I put the pressure on to get this thing done because I knew i really only had a few things to manage.
Hopefully you don’t give up but I can’t put myself in your shoes as I’m not sacrificing time with kids/family so can’t understand.

If you passed all three exams in 18 months, you probably have a very different perspective on the CFA program and the Charter than others. Interesting to think about.

lincoln lost in elections 8 times before becoming a president.. the whole process took him 28 years and in between he lost his most beloved sweetheart..
he didn’t whine…
you failed twice at CFA level 3 with a lot of ppl behind you supporting you but you whined…
go on and cry, you will soon realize you’re a loser.. and you will soon regret your decision…

I was about say ‘good bye’ to you too then I thought, you have yourself given anough reasons not to give up!
If saying ‘goodbye’ is so painful why say it. Don’t say.
If you are as happy and cheerfuil as before simply means your failure really does not matter and if it is truly so then what is the harm in trying once more as at the most you will fail, which won’t make you unhappy and if you pass it will only add to your happiness.
There is no better value-adding and relevant knowledge-based qualification than CFA for real “passion for value investing”, studying gives you the knowledge base and strengthens your skill while the CFA after your name adds the value that gives your clients the indication of your passion (that matters in your job).
So, don’t undergo the pain just see if you are worth the challenge (and not a loser!) and your earlier preperation will only contribute positively this time provided you are sincere in your efforts. Your family will understand your struggle (after all family is meant for that - support and encouragement when you fail!). As stated by many above they did it after retaking, why not you?

Wow… there is Greenie being honest and then there is this guy just being a straight up ass.

I am in the same boat buddy. I Spent more than 800 hours and I am not sure if I can do any better next time. I guess it is a bit luck involved in this exam too…
I still can’t believe the AM result is really mine, answer all the questios knowing formulas and cocepts. However, what we can do….
Getting busier with my life, so there would be no more time for this.
I wish I would spend those hours in networking or job searching. I am sure that I would have been able to get a good job which makes me able to pay for my Master degree….
I think it is just the high competition for job in the industry that makes this exam really important, otherwise honestly how many of us would use all those portfolio managing contents in the real finance industry nowadays
Congrats to everyone who passed….

Thanks a lot Mygos and everyone for the kind words. Yup I am very much into this field of equity investments/value investing, stock picking, special situations etc. that would compel me to take a dive again. I will try to gather myself and come back by January next year. I scored below 50 in Ethics and I suppose that played the spoilsport.

it is not worth giving up at this moment brother, you have already put too much time and effort studying and passing level 1 and 2. if you do not make it to level 3, all that past effort will be of little value, give yourself a break and come back after a year or two
if you can pass level 2, you definitely have what it takes to pass level 3. Im sure you will do it
