Financial Modelling Courses

I would really recommend getting a book to gain some financial modeling skills. There are a ton of them on amazon.com. If you get a book/self taught cd, then you can continue refering back and dig alot deeper into the material. I have been looking at doing this as well (after level 2) to try and become more effecient with my job. I’ll let you know what I find. Would you let me know what you find as well (courses & self taught)?

i got the Wallstreet Prep too. its kinda helpful but for the price, its an absolute rip off.
I don’t think anybody can really learn modelling from a book. Its really about practice adn those books don’t really teach you all that much imo.

jayce- I too am looking out for books on Financial Modeling. Could you please let me know which would the best book/cd to get.

I’ve heard good things about “Financial Modeling, 3rd Edition” by Simon Benninga (http://amzn.com/0262026287). I bought it, but haven’t gone through it yet. Starts off basic - calculating costs of capital, goes to intermediate level with VB and junk.

I heard Benninga is good….I don’t if it was a great idea but I enrolled in a modeling course, three weekends all day, supposedely wekeep a lot of applicable models at the end, we’ll see

If you really are serious about learning how to model I suggest learning and mastering physics and how to model in physics .

Attended TTS ‘s two day seminar at b-school. Quite reasonable when volume discount is applied. If you have decent modeling skills, perhaps focusing more on the industry/business fundamentals is better return on effort.

There are some really good financial modeling courses at the corporate finance institute - I have taken them as well as several people i know from the national investment banking compeition where they were a sponsor. Some courses are free, others you have to purhcase. TTS and WSP are good too but more expensive!
