THE DEPARTMENT
Fidelity�s Fixed Income Division is one of the country�s leading fixed income managers with over $544 billion in bond and money market assets managed by a staff of 120 investment professionals. Fundamental research on domestic and international debt issuers is combined with macroeconomic and quantitative analysis to form investment decisions with a total return objective. The Fixed Income Research Department consists of 56 Credit Analysts and Associates, and 15 Quantitative Analysts, who provide fundamental analysis and investment recommendations to the Traders and Portfolio Managers. The Fixed Income Department is located in Merrimack, NH.
THE POSITION
The Fixed Income Research Associate will support Research Analysts in the evaluation of fixed income securities. They will be working closely with the analysts who are responsible for covering ABS, CMBS, RMBS and CDO sectors for investment opportunities. The associate will be responsible for improving the investment process for deal structure and collateral analysis of these securities through better data gathering, building analytical tools, surveillance and performance monitoring. The associate will support the analysts in their research process for coming up with recommendations by analyzing deals, monitoring collateral performance, and participating in meetings with issuers. This position provides a great opportunity to learn the analysis and valuation of the structured securities and it combines aspects of both qualitative and quantitative analysis. The associate will be interacting with analysts, portfolio managers, and traders on a daily basis. The associate will also be responsible for building tools using Excel/VBA/Access to be used by the research team.
The Fixed Income Division�s Research Associate Program is designed to provide the participants experience in fixed income research, typically prior to attending graduate school. Participation in this program can last up to 4 years.
Qualifications
Professional Experience and Qualifications:
The candidate should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct independent research. Expertise in Excel and programming experience is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are also required.
Education:
Bachelor�s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or Computer Sciences
GPA of 3.5 or higher preferred
