For all you that passed

I too have Engg and MBA in Finance, I think till now FSA is little challenging for me, what do u suggest chris, do I have sufficient time to prepare for the Dec 2008 Exam? I am little shaky abt this right now, as of now I finished Book 1 of schweser, I know I have to revisit all of them soon as it's a lot of info but that was to just bos my confidence that I can do it.

Do the sample and mock exams...those were perfect. Much more like the real exam than Qbank, shows you where you need to focus, etc. Those are a no-brainer, cough up the cash for them and you will not be sorry.

This is my schedule.

Wake up at 5, drive to wk. Start studying 6am-8am. half hour 12:30. and 6pm-12am at nights.

All day Sat & Sun.

Work hard until you get tired...then work a little bit more.
I don't think you can study too much.

Passing Level 1 is good of course, but there's a lot more coming at a higher level of difficulty in Level 2 and Level 3 that you need to build a very strong foundation for.

Dec 2008 is more than enough time to prepare. Sample and mock exams as mentioned are worth spending the dough on.But most importantly read the CFA texts.

Christian,

It all depends on you. I have a bachelors in finance, and studied maybe 125 hours total...with 90 of those hours coming in the last 9 days prior to the exam. I solely used the CFA books, and took their practice exams. (I passed)

I would not recommend that though. Going into level 2, i plan on studying way more.

Stala, schweser, qbank....if you feel like you need extra help, I think I would go for it, but the books are definitely sufficient enough to pass, as long as you understand what you are reading. I thought they did a good job in explaining things.

Thanks for your input everybody - very helpful and congrats again!

Schweser notes and kaplan course, plus 2 sets of official sample questions only one or two days prior to the exam.
schedule is kaplan course work 7-10pm twice a week, most of the weekends and apply almost 2 week leave to prepare it, everyday sit more than 12 hours.
