Hi AF, I’m a long term lurker, first time poster.
I’ve been thinking about doing the CFA for the past year but I’ve never had the courage to actually registering. I’m currently working in Financial Planning but want to transition into an analyst/research role sometime in the future.
Essentially I wanted to find out on what to expect when completing the CFA L1 curriculum, should I have started studying the curriculum a month or two ago or is now a good time to start? I’ve read that 300 hours is the suggested amount of time to pass the L1 exams.
I graduated from a Business Degree in Finance back in 2011 but I’m a bit rusty with the information. Would this provide a good foundation when undertaking all this study?
Also, what are the job prospects like after completing the L1 exam? Obviously passing L1 wouldn’t guarantee a job but I would like to think it would assist when applying for analyst/research roles?
Your thoughts are appreciated.
Cheers
