Half a page into studying

Anybody planning on using just the CFA textbooks? I only used CFA text for I and II. I am second guessing myself about just using the textbooks. Lot of these talks about the big picture stuffs …
I was planning on only CFA textbooks, paired with Schweser practice tests. It worked for both L1 and L2, so I don’t see why I’d change strategy.

It’s a good strategy as long as it works!
Best of luck ^_^

Guess will probably stick with CFA text.

i’m aiming to start in mid october. i had a quick look at the behavioural finance text on the ebook, i might just wait until the schweser books arrive

I liked the CFAI Behavioral Finance readings. I had never learned that stuff before and it was interesting to learn about how the market empirically does work in contrast to the idealized theories of how the market should work.

Yea I dont WANT to start 10 months early, but I feel like I should. I told myself this last year for Level II as well, and of course that never happened. Now that ive finished the first two, Id like to just get it over with and put in the work but I hate wasting time and Im worried reading through these books now is just that, a waste.
whats wrong with starting 10 months earlier?

How do you calculate that?
Say you have a busy job, so you can only study 2hrs a day. 2*30 = 60 hrs/month, and x8 months = 480 hours, which is I think what you need to do to pass this exam. If you start in september, it’s less than a month after results, so no recovery, if you start later, you will have less time.
Long story short, start as early as possible, while giving yourself enough recovery. Starting in Oct gives you enough time to finish a read through by the end of the year, giving plenty of practice time.
if you have a busy job, 2hours is alot to ask for

I started studying late January. My study strategy was as follows:
-Read entire CFAI curriculum, and took notes; ignored EOC questions and blue box examples/questions
-Reviewed notes (an entire book)
-Did Schweser Practice exams 1, 2, and 3
-Did CFAI EOC exams and blue box examples
-Did CFAI multiple choice sample exams
-Do CFAI EOC exams for behavioral finance
Passed :)
Studied for 1-2 hours on weekdays and all day Sat, and Sundays.
