That would pretty much prove the MPS is under 70..

if you dont have a single >70 on this test highest you could be is 66.. and i have never seen or heard of it

good point….if you see some of the prior passing posts…. there are a lot of people that have pass with only a couple >70%…. arguably this means that the passing rate can actually be below 70%…
I think the confusion is that the people in this board tend to do quite well…. there are a lot of people out there that do not care about this stuff…. and have put litle effort…and that will be a good 20% of candidates…. we just don’t want to be around the other 40% who will fail…. and guess what….we wont…!!!!

AF does not know everything. It may have happened, but I have not heard of it. I would be confident in saying that some years might have had some wiggle room below 70 as the passing grade, but probably no lower than 68 or so.

4/6 on item sets = 66%

I guess that’s true.. due to the way it’s chopped up.
You’d need a section with 30 questions on it to score exactly 70.. dunno if 70 would fall in the 50 - 70 or > 70 tranche.

in 2005, the passing score for level 2 is pretty low, Everyone coming out saying that they would fail the exam
on result release date, I saw some scores from my friends like one high, and still passed

If the CFAI maintains their 45% or at least over 40% passing rate, it means we cant even guess what a true passing score will be. They seem to be pretty good at what they do so 70% probably is their estimated “pass” score, but i’m sure they reserve the right to move that around assuming how the scores fall out.

additional information on 2005
I believe it is the first year they turn level 2 to pure MC exams, passing rate 55% that year
