Who hasn’t taken a mock yet.
Hoping to take one sometime around this week and whole next week.

i’m sure you’re not, but you should take one soon (read: very very soon), because no amount of reading the ocean of literature that is provided to us will prepare you for the exam the way taking 3 or 4 mocks does.

yeap.. thanks.. i am so near to taking a mock.. just need to finish my revision.. (2 more days hopefully)

You’re not alone. I’m there with ya, haven’t started my first mock. Am doing balls to the wall studying tho. Lets do this!

u r kinda not alone .. i just did two mocks in last two days … else i was on the same page as you …

Im right there with you. Plan on taking my first mock on Saturday.
I have managed to do almost all of the BB and EOCs the last week though, so I dont think that is a bad strategy either. I may be one of the few, but I think the EOCs and BBs are more meaningful than doing mock exams…..but that’s just me

I did all the EOC and BB questions with notes and felt fine. Then I did a mock without any notes and felt horrible. I need to commit all the formulas to memory now but there are so many!

Same here. I tried taking the 2014 CFA mock last weekend until I realized its a copy paste of all the practice assessments they give you…so that was pointless. I have been using the older mocks (2009-2011) as timed practice questions for each case. Going to try the 2012 & 2013 mocks this weekend and will throw some Schweser ones in as well cause that’s all I have left to work with :(

+1
I believe you have to learn the CFA material twice; the first time is just learning the subjects, and the second time is learning how to answer the questions because they really do find creative ways to test your knowledge.

Honestly, I think doing 6+ mocks is a CRUCIAL part to your study plan. There’s no way you can master the format with just doing EOCs and 1 or 2 mocks.

can you elaborate on why it is so crucial to one’s success?

I don’t think there’s only one way to pass the exam. I have two friends who passed last year and each one did two mocks and EOC’s a couple times over and they were successful. I think the mocks are good but it’s also how you review the answers afterwards that you really get value out of them. Realistically figuring out how the item set format works shouldn’t be hard if you do a couple of them.

Not that I have successfully passed the real exam yet, but I find it extremely valuable to have written 10+ mocks. I feel more comfortable with the exam format, able to manage my time more efficiently, and also pick up stuff that I overlooked in my review while grading the mocks.
Some can pass without doing a single mock, but testing the water with 1 or 2 mocks wouldnt hurt either.

i dont have time management issue ….
i am pretty okay in Fixed income, Corporate Finance, Alt and Ethics
how many mocks should i take … i have done two schwesers up til now

I have been stressing out because I keep planning to take a Mock and my revision seems to never end!!! I have Fixed income, Economics and 2 readings of Alt to revise :’(. So stressed!
I know it’s crucial to do Mocks because as part of my revision I’ve been doing a specific topic vignette from past mocks which clearly illustrate that revising is essential but practicing questions is crucial.
so tough when time when time is not on our side! (I passed Level 1 Dec 2013)
goodluck guys!!

^ Unwritten rule of AF…do what S2000magician says. If you think you know better, check yourself and realize you don’t.
Take a mock. Stop worrying about how you’ll feel if you score poorly and just do it.

I can see more value in EOC & BB, take couple of mock from CFAI, end of day that covers all possibilities of asking questions, even those areas, which CFAI would not have given in Mock, keeping it as surprise element.

I have only taken the Schweser Live Mock on May 17th. Will start doing the CFA Mocks and also some Schweser practice exams this week.
Good Luck !
