i got this job as a credit analyst in a bank. i am hoping that i could gain more financial statement analysis experience. My questions are

1)Will credit analyst experience be accounted for CFA experience?
2)I dont have much banking experience, how tough is this position?
3)what would be the future career path for this kind of position?

THANKS FOR ANY INPUT!

here is the job description

Credit Analyst : Provide assistance to Commercial Loan Officers in the areas of credit analysis and credit approval packages of moderately complex commercial loans. Investigate credit and financial information on prospective and existing customers. Analyze financial statements of new, renewed, and existing loans. Prepare spreadsheets, credit proposals, summaries, and opinions for loan decision makers. Oversee and manage financial files to assure accurate reports, statements, and accounts receivable information. Monitor current accounts for payment progress. Assist in establishing and maintaining lien perfection of various collateral. One or more years credit experience in commercial banking preferred

If some one can answer that question, it will also benefit me 2! i'm in the same area!

I have done that once during an early internship, evolved more scoring methods and soulless ratios that actual analysis
but I am really not very knowledgeable in that area
I would say, in doubt call CFAI

my understanding is that credit analysis experience in commercial banking qualified under the old work experience requirements, but does not qualify under the new requirements.

no, a small regonal bank, banner bank, if u are not in northwest region, u would not hear of it

I am not sure of your background but a Credit analyst position is what you make of it. It is by no means a bad job but isnt something you want to make a career out of. If you are right out of school you can learn a lot in that position and especially in a small bank might be able to turn it into a junior Loan officer/VP position. From their you will have built up a few years experience, Hopefully have Level I and II dont and then can move away from the Northwest and write your own ticket in Chicago/New York/ or Boston

i am doing compliance work as a junior loan review analyst/credit analyst. my manager said this is a very dead end job compared to leveraged finance and more higher paying jobs in ifnance. makes for good entry level work experience even if it doesnt qualify under the cfa work requirements.
