Hello Folks,
Thanks in advance for reading! I started studying in February so grinding every week when I can to get my hours in. I haven’t done any of the CFAI Topic tests yet. My plan is to save those for the end after having gone through the curriculum to get a better gauge of where I’m at. I know it’s risky and many advise to start the “revision” or “final review” process several weeks in advance.
I’m planning to take my first mock and power through the CFAI topic tests in mid-may. Fairly late in the game, but will have about 90 hours at that point to do 5 mock exams and the topic tests. For those of you that have already taken the topic tests, how long are they??? I don’t want to click into them yet because I know the website has its quirks and I do not want to mess things up.
There are 72 topic exams – are they 1 vignette with 6 questions each?
Thanks again – and good luck!

If I recall, there are 6 questions for each vignette. You should be fine doing them and mocks at that time, provided you’ve done well on the CFAI EOCs. I did most (~80%) of the topic tests after the second week of May, and I took the CFAI mock exam on Monday of the exam week.

Thanks Tickersu. Just to clarify, each topic test is just 1 vignette?
Also, I’m thinking 50 hours should suffice for the 5 mock exams I have access to (10 hours each including review). That leaves me about 40 hours for the topic tests offered through CFAI. Does that sound like a reasonable number of hours to get through taking and reviewing the topic tests?
For more visibility, my plans include 2 weeks of review while working 45 hour weeks, and 1 week of review with no work. I suppose I can crank that up to 100 hours over the 3 weeks if needed.
