How many hours of revision?

Lots of talk about what to do during revision, but very little about how many hours to devote to it? I have no idea how many I spent reading, probably in the 150-200 hour range, so I’m aiming for 100 hrs of revision between now and the exam. Would you say thats about normal?

Having a quick look at my spreadsheet….I’ve done 275 hours.
I’d like to put in another 120 or so before the exam. THat should be plenty! Better safe then sorry and I no-one is going to ask you how many hours of study you put in…or how much time you took off work. They’ll only ask ‘was it hard?’ ‘Did you pass?’.

I think the reason most people don’t talk about “hours” of revision is that it’s not necessarily a useful measure. I know people who studied 450 hours and failed and people who studied for 200 hours and passed. Rather gauge your readiness by how well you do on the mock exams. It’s the best possible measure you could use.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Schweser 3 day review!
I am currently half way through this and it has already helped me identify where my strengths and weaknesses are while reviewing all the material. I will finish this and then go over the areas I feel are my weakest during the next week then do a mock exam.
After this is just brushing up on weaknesses again. The shampoo slogan “Lather, rinse, repeat” comes to mind.
Because of this review I don’t feel worried. I know if I put the work in I can learn what is required. It’s been a big confidence booster and encourages me to try harder because I can see the end is in sight now.

I am aiming for about 100 hours of revision in total.
I didn’t bother counting how long it took me to originally cover the material. This seemed a bit pointless to me as the number of hours differ from person to person. The CFA Institute only really gives the 300 hours as an indication to people that they should expect to spend a lot of time working on the material to master it.

I am currently at 110 hrs for L1. Sitting right around 75% on the mocks so I am feeling comfortable. As others have said it is more about the quality of hours you put in as oppsosed to the quantity.
