How many pages an hour?

Seeing as how we are all number-centric, I have been tracking roughly how many pages an hour I can read.

At this time, I am averaging 12 pages an hour. Slower when I hit the hard stuff (can you say Study Sessions 9 and 10? Ugh...).

How is everyone else doing?

I have made it a point to just get through the material once and then go back over the areas I did not understand too well (can you say Study Sessions 9 and 10? Again, ugh...).

I try to stay away from calculating the hourly rate because I realized that if I try to speed up, I don't absorb as much materials and it reflects on the concept checker/exam flashbacks.

Ok, that didn't really answer your questions...

I don't know about pgs per hour, but I'm trying to read and take notes on roughly 20 pgs a day. However, I'm only doing the actual CFA exam questions at the end of each section and skipping the Schweser questions for later.

I've been pretty good at keeping this pace since I started studying in late February. In March, I read 560 pgs, which works out to be 18pgs a day.

I'm a little over half way through with the readings now, figure I'll finish the rest in April and just do questions in May.

I am on "hiatus" from work, so I can concentrate on my studies. Right now, I am doing 50+ pages/day. I just hit 1500 pages (half-way point!) yesterday. I figure by doing 50 pages/day for the rest of the month, I'll have covered the entire curriculum. That will leave 3+ weeks in May for review.

To do 50 pages/day takes about 4-5 hours.

That's the plan, anyway.

10-12 Schweser, about 20/hour CFAI materials (primarily use this material as a reference when I don't understand something)...SS14-16 to go

I do about the same as c_hayhurst, 50+ a day and it takes about 4 hours with doing other @#$%& in between. I would do it by pages vs by hours. Set a goal of so many pages a day, but make sure you take good notes. Pages dont count if you dont know what youve read. I also recommend to start doing the math sections early, because those are hard to forget. Leave some time at the end, close to May to read the Ethics part, so it will be fresh in your mind...thats what Im doing anyway. Good luck

I'm studying quant. right now and it sucks! I'm only going at about 5 pages per hour. I'm using schweser and I think it's going slower for me because I have never taken any finance classes (just accting) and this stuff is thick, it takes me time to think it logically over.

Does this seem normal? will I speed up once I get to economics (I so pray I do). I learn normally as fast as anyone else, so it ain't like I'm going slower because of that.

Quant is a b1tch. I'm an MBA grad and I loved my quant classes, even though I suck at math. You'll eat up the pages after you complete Volume I of the curriculum. if you are using Schweser or other materials, i cannot give you an estimate. Faster, to be sure.

You'll be fine, just keep studying.

Don't forget, "Think about the push, not the weight."

That is what got me through my darkest days as an undergrad.
