I'm thinking of enrolling for the CFA level I test in December 2004. I'm getting married in mid September and will be away until beginning of October. I could probably do a little studying before my wedding, but the heavy studying I intend to do when I get back. Do you think I have enough time to study from the beginning of October until the test? I work full time and intend to use the weekends to do most of my studying(and some week nights). Thanks everyone

Try finishing as much as possible before you wedding.

Later from October start working questions whether you have finished the material or not.

You will learn the remaining material by solving questions from a good question bank
(Schweser Pro / Pass Pro ) and solving questions will also give you a good question practice for the material you have already covered.

When there are one or two weeks for the exam, try solving atleast 6 mock exams.

I think you should be definitely fine.

Good Luck !

We never plan to fail, but only fail to plan !

thanks for the advice level I. The only thing I'm afraid of is that I'm gonna go on my honeymoon and forget everything! I may have to bring some notes to read on the beach

Ace:

Only my opinion, but I would consider taking the test in June instead. Lots of people have had similar intentions of taking the exam only to find out that they didn't have the time to study and decided to postpone taking it. A waste of money in my opinion.

My advice, devote as much time to your loved one during the wedding planning, wedding and honeymoon. Focus on studying in 2005 and take the June exam. The CFA program will add strain to your marriage, as many people on this board would attest to.

I wish you the best of luck in your decision.

Good Luck,

Jim

Take the exam in June. Don't put stress on your marriage. It is not worth it.

Agreed. If you make the commitment needed to pass the exam that soon after you're married, your wife will be serving you papers before you find out if you passed or failed. Wait the extra six months.

I agree with everyone in thinking your best bet is June.....

I think it really depends on your background, but the exam is challenging to say the least. Enjoy yourself and start studying in December for June and I think you will save yourself alot of stress...and perhaps undue stress if you should fail December.

My advice to you would also be to take the last month to study exam questions almost exclusively. This is not an exam that you can expect to cram for and pass.

Good Luck

I have registered for Level1 Dec. I am starting only now.

I have bought the textbooks from CFA?
Typically what are the other guides that might be helpful at this point

Also, if people can post their sample study schedules, it can be useful for me to create a study schedule for myself.

Thanks
