How possible to become chartholder in external audit

If i am not mistaken, i remember that external auditing evaluated as related work experience when i checked requirements 3-4 years ago when i was a student.
Now, i am working in Big4 audit department and i want to learn the possibility of being chartholder with that background ?
When i read the description, audit does not seem proper however i know some auditors who hold CFA.
Can someone inform me about this issue ?

It’s easy.
Step #1 - get a chart. Any chart will do.
Step #2 - Hold it up for all the world to see.
Now you’re a chart holder!
 
From my understanding an audit position generally does not qualify. The only exceptions are if you do a lot of fair value accounting.
Has anyone else in your department earned a charter?
 
Auditor is listed as one of the qualified positions towards the CFA, however it is important you word the job description so it relates to investment decision processes based on CFAI’s requirements.
 
If you test fair value calculations most of the time, you may have a chance.
 
Auditing funds could do the job. Also I can not imagine it happening at the low level - probably you need to get to the manager level to more or less be considered for the qualifying experience, or?
 
You can easily email CFA institute .. no worries

External Audit: Go for CPA (4 books and you are done with relative certificate about 1.5 years) - unless you want to quit audit forever
Why would you go for CFA (18 books - about 4 years on average) if you are not pursuing investment/finance job!

Yes completely possible to get the Charter whilst working in external audit.
There is various people in back office, fund accounting accounting who have the experience to get the charter. Audit is similar in terms of the effect on the investment decision making process.
Summary - yes put your audit experience down you will be fine.

Is this true? I work in fund accounting and have heard from some people it does not count, and from others it does. Although I see people in my company that have it so I suppose it comes down to wording it to highlight the parts relating to analysis?
 
Look on linkedin lots of people who work in audit, management accounting, fund accounting with the CFA. No problem
