how to study for ethics?

hey everyone,
im a bit behind schedule since i started late. i havent even looked at ethics yet and i am just beginning to read quant (i read everything else already)
suggestions on how i should spend my last week before i start doing questions?
and more specifically, when studying ethics, is there a tactic or theme i should be looking for to help retain the information? or is it just pure cramming?
 
This how I cope with ethics:
read the summary (I use Schweser) -> read the original text -> try to read it again -> give up -> read the summary again
Maybe it’s no the best way but it seems to work for me. Shall see on the exam :)
 
Plenty of people pass level 1 barely reading ethics or reading it the last 2 days, you should be fine just crush FSA and equity, fixed income etc….do as many practice tests as you can, Schweser offers an online one or something and you can buy a video instruction to review it too which is helpful. Boston Security Analyst Society also offers an online test bank as well as a $100 practice test which is useful. Good luck.
 
Ethics is one of the most important topics in Level 1. I honestly think that the ethics adjustment helped me pass the Level 1 exam. Ethics to be honest is very very dry and boring, but it is covered in all three levels and HAS to be done. I would suggest trying to do some reading everyday after you have done what you have planned for. Moreover, I bought the audio notes just for ethics from Elan and i think that helped quite a bit.
 
I would say go through the CFAI books and while you are reading either underline or write separately the requirements, recommendations and other areas which are categorically written. It will help you out in retaining them. In exam judgmental questions, like examples in the CFAI Books, and pretty straight forward questions like requirements and recommendations could be asked. Try to grasp the in-depth understanding of Ethics and it could only be done through reading curriculum not from exams perspective but from understanding perspective. Though you need to remember quite a number of things in Ethics but like I said deep understanding is inevitable and it can’t be done unless the broader picture is clear.
 
I try to practice ethics by solving as much questions on it as possible (Schweser, AnalystNotes, CFAI). There are too many details for me to remember in the text (although I do give it a read-through) and I seem to grasp the finesses better when going through the 100’s of questions available.
 
Go through as many questions as you can find. Definitely put use to the CFA Mock exams and those other exams they offer. I found it very helpful. I used them through level 1 to level 3.
 
I agree. Practicing ethics questions specially is very helpful in understanding the dynamics of the questions asked. Especially if they are CFAI EOC questions or CFAI mock questions.
 
I agree with all the above comments. If you have access to the Schweser study materials, I would highly recommend watching the videos and making notes off the three they have to offer. Then, I would tackle the CFAI LOS’s and case studies offered to take care of any loose ends. Then lastly I would go through the question banks and mock exams. Here I would specifically note the questions where you felt that you had any doubt. I think if you have a 0.01% doubt on the practice or mock exam you will most likely miss this question on the exam. The goal is perfection. In my humble opinion I feel that if you are comprehensive and diligent on your method of tackling the section it is a guaranteed 15%.
