So I work in this boutique in LA and there's no deal flows. I F-king hate it. The hours are too good to be true (read: no work = no bonus = pay sucks = boring).

If you are thinking of going to a boutique, think again.

When you say boutique, I assume you mean boutique IBank. Jefferies is considered a boutique and they pay very well.

go study for your cfa during work. its better than doing menial work like me at my entry level loan review analyst position.

sounds like a good way to get fired....although posting at this forum at work probably isn't too great either

That may be the kick in the pants that spideyman needs.

Heh.

Seriously, though, if you are bored at work, then use your time at work to find ways to make the company more profitable. Then, present that work to the most senior person, preferably not your immediate boss. At worst, they will know your level of commitment and steal your work without giving you any credit. At best, you'll get promoted and/or additional authority and pay.

If, after repeated efforts to enhance your value to the company goes nowhere, then exploit the company for your own betterment: study for the CFA, actively look for another job on company time, play video games at work, etc.

good luck!
