Ideas About Getting more Hours of Studying Done

I have been finding that since I got through the material I am not as motivated to studying and more of my freetime is spent not studying. I was thinking of easy ways to come up with more study time that will also be more beneficial. Here is what I have came up with:

--> Get up 1.5 hours before going to work, wash up, make coffee and get an hour of study in before leaving. This should yield me 40-45 extra hours before the exam.

--> Devote 1/2 an hour at lunch to studying and one break (as well as any downtime at work) to studying. This should give me, if done right an extra 25-55 hours, I figure.

--> I also estimated how many days I've spent on each topic so I can rebalance my remaining days accordingly.

Anybody else have any good ideas?

If you spend any time working out or driving, and think you need more studying, try the audio notes. put them in your car stereo or your iPod.

Good plan, however hard to stick with. Hard material is not processed as easily in the morning....for me anyways. I ride the train for about 45 minutes to work and use that time to study. I concentrate mostly on reading and grasping the basic concepts. Later in the day (usually at night after work) I review everything and write down the notes. This takes much less time. The half an hour at lunch time is key. For some reason I am really productive during that time.

not checking AF and using the hours to study would be a good one... but alas, i cannot resist...

after cutting down on going out it's my one of the few vices i've kept.

Audio tapes would be nice I'll think about them for level 2 (knock on wood). For the morning, I find if you are reviewing material, it's not that bad; it's actually like half a cup of coffee.

Maybe purchase the FAR study notes.

I have the same problem....once I've covered something its hard to get motivated to cover it again. However, I find that if I re-cover the same material in a different format (or from a different source) I pay more attention because my mind isn't "defaulting" to what i think is coming next.

The FAR notes are the briefest and they do present things in a little different format than what you find in Stalla & Schweser.....really great for reviewing if you already know the "context" of the material.

Also, the Schweser flash cards are pretty good for review (I find them much more complete than the Stalla cards). Good way to make productive use of the little pieces of downtime here and there.

go to sleep early and avoid the mutha f**in club yo. "early to bed, early to rise..."

Get a crappy, $10/hour job that you hate with no future in spite of your MBA and business successes. That'll motivate you. It sure did for me.

Who's bitter? I am!

I have some decent LOS summaries, ala Schweser Qbank and a good set of notes, about 1000 pages both are pretty decent, I only default to the text if the topic needs a major mental overhaul. I am definatly going to re-read alot of the FSA (weight) and the ethics again before the exam.

Let us know of your progress on your study schedule jamespucyk, I may adapt your plan for the dec. 2005 exam.

Sure. So far, .. Day 1 (yesturday), got only about 45 minutes in the morning. Went to lunch with co workers so only about 25 minutes during the day and about 1 hour in the evening. Not bad.
