Inception date vs. Creation date in GIPS

Being not a native speaker, could someone explain the difference between inception and creation dates?
“Composite Creation Date
Firms must disclose the creation date of the composite, which is the date when the firm
first groups one or more portfolios to create a composite. The composite creation date is
not necessarily the same as the composite inception date (the initial date of the
composite’s performance record). ”

Composite creation date is when the actual composite is created.
Inception date is when each portfolio was added to the composite for performance tracking

To expand on this, I could be reviewing my accounts today and determine that I have 5 accounts that all follow a simliar strategy so I decide to create the composite. The creation date would be today. The longest an account has followed this strategy is from 1/1/2005. The inception date would be 1/1/2005.
