Wow! All that for a BOM position? I don't have any advice, but please report back what it was like when you're done.

Also, who gives a math test in this day and age without a calculator? I doubt it's some sort of "higher math" that doesn't require a calculator. Makes me think it'll be all logic based.

I took a test like that with State street, I was sick that day so that didnt help but it was a lot of fraction math and long division. Then came some sort of Personality test, by the end of the 6 hour day I really didnt care anymore I just wanted to get the hell out of there.

What kind of job where you trying to get? I interviewed with SS and did not take a test.

fractions and long division ??? wtf ...

Exemp : ...i think it might be logic based as well ..atleast thts wht i'm hoping for ...i wonder what she meant by technical ..i asked if it was IT related and she said no its related to the job ....

Not really. I'd just practice sums at home witout a calc - its strange how quickly some of those old 'tricks' return.

Long division, adding columns of large numbers, some basic mental tasks, perhaps a 'spot the error' round maybe - that kind of thing.

If its for a BOM job then I think you should focus on minimising errors rather than trying to get as many answers down as possible. No one wants a BOM who makes mistakes.

any time you cant figure out what the job is from the description, that's a really bad sign.

the bullets are so vague...it sounds like an IT job but im not sure. that they require a math test without a calculator and technical test - whatever that means - is an ominous sign of things to come. just my opinion, not trying to rain on your parade or anything, but there are better BOM jobs out there.

yeah it sounds like a lot from the desc. ..i really have no idea what to expect on the so called test ...
I;m sure there are a lot better jobs out there but this is the first call i've got in over 3 months ..so i;m gonna go in and do the best I can ...I'm not as excited about the specific job as I am about the organisation that its for ..
I;m just gonna go in and hope for the best ...

It was right out of school for a BOM posistion @ State street in Boston. I remember it was so cold that day and I didnt wear a jacket besides me suit jacket and those f*&ks walked us around their campus in the freezing cold. By the time the test came around I realized there are a bunch of idiots working there so I really did not try to hard

In my experience, tests that go along with interviews have never been very difficult...

MGG was right ....i did the test this morning and they made me do fractions and long division , also had to do some % calcualtions which were rounded to the penny ...and some other grade 10 math stuff ....and I actually had a hard time with it and i dont think I made the grade ....i cant even remember the last time i did fractions ..it wasnt difficult just very frustrating especially since thats the last thing I expected ....all this without a calculator ....
It was followed by a technical test which had stuff like completing cash flow forecasts ..forex swap calcualtions and some other stuff about cost comparison ...thankfully this time i cd use a calculator ...
I think blew it but who knows ....it was a learning experience nonetheless ...

Good lord - fractions and long divisions without a calculator. It is unbelievable... WTF ?
Its insane

Thats why there are calculators
