What's your opinion on the best one? I'm split between Damordoran's Investment Valuation and Valuation: Measuring and Managing the value of companies, Mckinsey.

Is there some reason we need a best one and what are we going to use it for?

both of those books suck. damodoran's (sp) book is poorly constructed and poorly written. the mckinsey book is too theoretical and serves only to hammer home the point that, yes, effective managers should, in fact, create value. thank yoooooooou, mckinsey!

i haven't found a really good book on the subject, but i like business analysis & valuation by palepu, healy and bernard better than either of those books.

Penman works for me.. but do watch out as it getas a bit technical rather quickly. Damodoran has some pretty good early chapters on building locks like CAPM and PE multiples.

Really? I really enjoy Damordoran. I thought it was pretty well constructed and laid out in a fairly straight forward manner. I haven't read McKinsey yet.
