Is it too late to start studying for the June 2014 exam?

I just passed Level 1… haven’t been studying since December 7th…is it too late?
 
Nope. Plenty of people start studying for Level II after the Dec Level I results are released. You’ll need to be very disciplined though!!
 
How many hours do you need to study AND prep yourself for exam (mock, simulation) for the level 2?
I have heard its very different from Level 1.
 
I am in the same boat, just passed Level 1, but I don’t care if it’s too late I’m taking the sucker anyway. No way I wait around for a year and a half before sitting again.
 
me too.. I’m just going through Secret Sauce - Level 1 to reivew the materieal.
Does anyone use Schweser calendar? is it a good way to plan your study?
 
First of all guys, Congrats to US all. I just passed L1 too. From what I’ve been told it’s way better to go in for L2 now - when the material is still fresh in your mind - than to go for L2 in a year. That will feel like starting all over again, matter of fact it will be starting all over again. Plus is it just me or is there some extra Can-do feeling after beating L1. I’ll definitely ride on that immediately and start preping for L2 against June 14.
 
I am currently studying for level 2 right now. My belief is that you are better off starting to study for 2015 in Novermber 2014 to ensure that you have the adequate time to prepare for it. If you truly want to brute force the process and continue to plow through CFA curriculum, then power to you. But it is easy to exclaim your enthusiasm and sign up for the material; it is a lot harder to begin the studying process and put in 300 hours plus in the next 4 months. I can imagine it will be exceedingly difficult.
I do not like to take excessive chance…I prefer sticking to a planned study program and executing this plan. Think long hard and realize that there will be no breaks until June. If you truly belief you can handle it, start studying NOW. If you are the type of person that wants to relax a bit and need that 6 month sabbatical (like me), then do that too.
Just know what you are getting into!!!!!!!

I might not pass but it won’t be because I didn’t put in the time and effort. It’s too close now I can do anything for 4 months.
 
come on, just do some simple math., we have 130 days to LII… 3 hours (390h total) isn’t so hard if you focus. You have more than the 300h average.
passing/not passing depend on the time/effort you put in your study.
 
Well it depends how well you want to know the material. I have already put 230 hours into studying…but I am leaving no stone unturned.
 
It’s not too late. I passed L1 last December and L2 this past June. I studied on average 25 hours per week. You will be sick of studying by the end, and possibly burn out, but nailing two exams within 6 months of each other was well worth it.
 
that’s insane…exactly why i don’t want to jump on it now…too much going on at work to put in another 25 hours outside of work..
 
Same here… Just passed L1 and will definately go for the Level 2 exam in June. Already bought the L2 Schweser material (was slightly optimistic about the L1 results…). Will start studying as of today.
Probably would have forgotten everything if I’d sign up for the 2015 exam. So June 2014 it is.
 
Congrats to all of you who passed Level I. I did this last year, took Level I in December and then came back in June and took Level II. Unfortunately I failed Level II with Band 9, so I’m back at it again this year. Look its hard to do no doubt. I studied everyday for about three hours up until the test. When I came and took the test I wasn’t unprepared but I was burnt out. I felt burnt out as I was taking the test. So for me when I was waiting for the results I thought I had a 50/50 shot.
The thing is, is even though I failed I would say that the effort is worth it. Even though I failed I gained a deep understanding of the material. So now I am studying againfor Level II and am ripping through the material that I had a good understanding of last year and realizing what I missed. Even if you don’t pass, I feel like it is better than just waiting for 2015 because at least you will be able to get through the material, take good notes that you can use if needed in the future, and have good practice. But be aware you got to put a lot of work into it and its a tough road.
 
Does the L2 stuff build on the L1 stuff in great detail or is it pretty much all new stuff? I can’t decide what I want to do but I need to make a choice today.
 
L2 is just different than L1. There is certainly material that builds off from Level I but there is also new stuff that has nothing to do with Level I. The material is more in depth and there really isn’t any plug and chug like Level 1. The test is broken up into 10 vignettes per session. Basically in the vignette you are reading a story or situation, which is about 2 to 3 pages. From there you have six questions you have to answer based off the reading. Sometimes the questions build off each other, mostly they don’t. A lot of the test will be you being able to comprehend what your reading and apply it to the appropriate formula or method of solving the problem.
I always encourage people to go for it, but you have to be committed 100% and be willing to do the work.
 
Thanks for thee feedback, I think I am going to go for it. It will drive me crazy to have this on my mind for the next year and half.
 
I think I am going to allocate just a few hours every weekend to go over Level 1 again until July 2013…and then start studying for Level 2 from then on. I simply cannot imagine getting back on studying again, besides the fact that I’ve got too much going on at work right now…
 
There is no level 2 exam in december ? why did i read everywhere that they start level 2 sessions in december from 2014 ?
