is there a cut off on each individual section??

i think ETHICS is pretty hard to pass 60%... i nearly guess more than 50%...

also, how do you guys estimate this years's overall passing score? 70% still?

nobody knows how to calculate the passing score. The most popular passing method is the 80/60/40 method.

If you think you got above 70 in a section, average it to 80% for that section. If you think you got between 50-70% for a section, average it to 60% and if you think you got less than 50 in a section average it to 40%. Add it all together and that is your best estimate on what you really got.

The passing score is based on the test scores of the top x% percentage of the people taking the exam world wide.

Actually, the CFAI tells us HOW they calculate it, they just don't tell us what the result is.

No. That is not true. Do a search here for "minimum passing score" or read the material on the CFAI candidate resources for the real method.

yup, but i'm asking if you got ZERO in one section, say Ethics, and all else 100% right, will you fail of pass??

That wouldn't be a good thing but as CFAI has mentioned that they consider total score so I assume you would pass even if you score a zero.
