Hi guys;
I visit and read these forums on occasion; but this is my first post. A bit of background. I started my CFA journey in December 2013; passed level1 with relative ease.
I then took the level 2 last June, and till a week before the exam, I felt quite confident - I thought I’d grasped the material quite well. But, once I got down to taking mock exams - I realized I was off-the-pace, so to say. I eventually failed the exam in a band 8.
Now, this year, I am obviously keen to avoid the mistakes I made last time around. Essentially, while my general preparation was pretty good; I was severely lacking in ‘sharpness’. While doing any given topic, I find EOC questions, etc quite easy, really - but when it comes to aggregating all the information, I do find it quite challenging.
So, in my situation; what would you advise?
The strategy I’ve adopted, quite recently, is to watch Elan/Wiley videos; use their study notes and practice extensively. I’m about 60% the way into a fairly thorough review of the material. Gladly, I have the luxary this year of being able to focus solely on the exam for the next ~8 weeks. So, how would you suggest I use this time?
My current schedule would allow me 3 mocks, 18-20 days of pure aggregation/review.. but what’s the best way to master the material and feel exam ready? While I’ve read many people suggest the CFA textbooks is the way to go; I’ve personally found myself far better prepared after using Elan/Wiley videos, notes and going through the CFA blue boxes, doing all EOCs as well as Wiley assesments. I’d love suggestions; particularly from anyone who’s found themselves in my shoes before. What’s the best way to go from a reasonable grasp of the material to being really exam ready? Cheers!
