Hey guys I have an interview coming up with Janus Capital. Has anyone interview with them before and know their process? Also has anyone worked there before? How is the environment? Thanks.

What type of position? It’s a good place to work and if you work hard you are given the opportunity to do very well. Gary Black (ex Goldman guy) recently “stepped down” as CEO after changing the team and comp structure a whole lot. What your experience is like is going to depend what you are interviewing for. I liked working there, but when people start changing stuff on you and comp/career path becomes uncertain sometimes you have to more on. I’m not a big fan of Denver as a city although the state itself is great. I just like more traditional cities with tall buildings, narrow streets, etc.

I used to cover JNS while working as an analyst at the now defunct prudential equity group. Prudential is still alive and well (PRU) but the equity group is closed. I was actually on Mike Mayo’s team

I love Denver. It can be tough finding a good finance job here, but once you do, you’re set. I have a 10 minute commute. Mountains are an hour away. Cost of living is pretty cheap. The people are very active and love the local sports teams. Fun places to go downtown on the weekend. No, you don’t make as much, but I think the overall picture is hard to beat.

I’ve been trying to get to Denver for two years now. Unfortunately, there is nil there for someone who has already accumlauted solid experience on the buy side. Janus, Marsico, Cambia, and Denver Investment Advisors are the only shops I am aware of. Please follow up after your interview..i’d be curious to see how it went. Is Jim Goff still there? Is that who it is with?
