journey and thoughts before Aug 12th...share yours

For those of you in which the exam anxiety was mixed with babies, I present to you my situation so that you may feel a bit luckier.
I took level 1 on Dec 12, passed it first time. Took the L2 following June (13), passed it first try. Wife got pregnant in the fall, new job as well. I pushed myself to study while trying to kill it at work hoping to put the CFA ordeal away and be a happy and good father/husband.
My son was due the week leading to the exam Saturday. We get sent home from our schdules C-section due to hospital not having enough rooms and there being too many emergency c-sections; we are told to come back on Monday (before the exam). Son had been breach. We go in Monday morning and we feel no heart beat as wife gets hooked up to the monitors. Baby died due to chord wrapping up and blocking supply. I go and sit for the exam on Saturday; the most unemotional exam sit ever in my life.
If I pass, it will have been a miracle. My brain failed to recall several important topics I thought I had aced during practice. I share my story just so you fathers and “expecting” charterholders in waiting know that you have won the battle that matters.

It’s been a long journey, and I hope tomorrow it will finally be over. Oh, to have the months before June finally free again…
June 2009 - passed level 1
June 2010 - failed level 2 band 5
June 2011 - failed level 2 band 10
June 2012 - passed level 2
June 2013 - failed level 3 band 8
June 2014 - ?

sorry to hear that..that’s very sad.
Good luck to your CFA results for what it’s worth.

Hi ishkurti,
I’m sorry for your loss. I understand what you have been through since my baby died on March 21st. I was still on short term disability leave when I passed the exam. Joshua had a hearth problem and went under surgery 2 weeks after his birth. It went relatively well but we got a phone call during the night saying he had a hearth attack and he was under life support. During his 5 weeks of life, he survived after a hearth attack, one misfunctioning lung and bladder and a second surgery in which he lost one time and a half his blood. He went through all that, but, weakened by his fight, he died of a pneumonia. I was devastated, but found the strenght to start studying again and sit for the exam, just like you. Today my wife is pregnant again, we are planning to buy a house next year and I am currently studying for the CERA credential. You are right ishkurti, the CFA exam is just one of many battles in life and while it is hard, we went through harder times.

Wow guys - devastating. I can’t begin to imagine what you went through. Best of luck to you both tomorrow

Good Luck to Huge as well. I hope you get through with the CERA as well. I am hoping that if I get though this I can go back and try to earn ASA and beyond as well. Good Luck to everyone

I am ready for 3 results but not so anxiously waiting as I waited for level 1 & 2.
