I have a B.S. in Corporate Finance, and I am 9 hours away from completing an M.A. in Financial Economics. I'm like Kentemen working in "corporate finance" (not the same as what some of you are studying) and hating every minute of it. I'm using this as leverage to make a move into a Treasury dept. If I don't enjoy that, I'm going back for a Ph.D. and will just teach.

I haven't started studying, but I plan to soon. For those of you taking practice exams, are the example questions on the CFAI site representative of what you are seeing?

I haven't stared studying yet, my start date is Aug 1st, I think that'll be enough. That is not to say I think I know more than other people, just tend to work better under stress and looming deadlines. I also prefer to study longer hours for shorter period of time. I work 55-65h/wk so I can devote 18 hr on weekends and maybe 4-5 during the week. That should total @ or above the 250 hrs they recommend.

My biggest fear is the financial statement analysis - plain hate it. But that's one of the reasons I signed for the exam - to force myself to learn it. I like numbers & formulas so Ethics won't be fun either.

Just started this week with Schweser notes and q-bank. Working through ethics, should start quant methods later in the week.

I live in Birmingham, AL now, but worked the past two years as an IB analyst in New York...since the pace of life is slower in AL, I need to keep the wall st. mentality to work though all the materials.

Planning on doing the ATL live class (3-day session) in Oct.
 
Newbie here. Is it too late for me to START studying for Level 1? I don't even have books yet. CFAI says 250hrs which sounds doable but is it realistic?

It depends on a lot of things. Your academic/professional background, personality...life.
I think you still have time to prepare.
 
it's not too late. Most people likely won't start till August anyway.

Game Plan: Study, lather, rinse, repeat. Half way SS2. Trying to think of a clever way to remember what I study over the course of the next months.

Just graduated from the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, now working in Saudi Arabia as an internal auditor. Work is mad laid back so I need something to do in the mean time.

I might be posting time to time, I was really impressed by the people who posted here so hopefully I can learn and contribute from time to time.

PS: Did anyone take the exam without the Official Standard of Ethics book? Cuz I don't have it...yet.
