I was just looking for any insight as to what to expect in regards to the technical questions for an entry-level junior analyst position at an investment management firm for one of its small cap funds. The job description mentions that the ideal candidate must have "mastery of accounting and finance coursework". The interview is a 30 min phone interview, so I'm not sure how technical it can get. I guess I'm most concerned over the accounting part since I'm a finance / economics major; but would an interview like this ever delve into specific accounting techniques like LIFO vs. FIFO, etc.? Thanks

highly doubt it would get as far as lifo vs fifo in any part of the interview.

in a 30 min interview definitely not, probably minimal technical questions.

the most it would be would probably be along the lines of how does IS connect to BS (ret'd erngs), how do u calc FCF, maybe some basic questions about the ratios from cash conversion cycle.
