What is the typical salary range one can expect after passing the level 1 exam?

When they found that I had registered for Level I, they bumped up my salary from 40K to 80K base + bonus.

Once I passed the exam, my base went up to 160K. Plus now I get free lunch delivered to work, a chauffer-driven car, a personal conceirge at work, a gym membership, access to a gentleman's club and a different lady escort every evening (wink, wink).

Yeah, life changes completely once you pass Level I. If you are not getting all this, you must look deep inside yourself and ask where am I, who am I... you know those deep philosophical questions.

Oh yeah, did the Pope call you?

OK... now I feel bad - the fact that you might derive pecuniary benefit from passing Level I is a rare exception rather than a rule. Now passing Level I in some circumstances may open a door to higher paying job, but that is rare as well if it is all you have going for you.

It would probably be the same as if you had not passed it

about the same as a college grad.. since thats basically what the test covers

why cant someone answer the question instead of being sarcastic. When i finished univerisity, I found many jobs in Canada and the US which required Level 1 of the CFA, as well as other certificates like CSC. It doesn't make much of a difference in salary, yet it is something which employers look at, especially for entry level jobs.

mainly because finance has about 8000 different entry points
bb ibanking is paid differently than being a cfp on comission
so my honest range is 0-100k

also, while studying for L1 make sure you pay attention during the correlation->causality discussion...

To seriously answer the question, I would say one's salary would not increase as a result of passing Level I. Most employers expect you to pursue the designation. Failing the exams repeatedly, may have an adverse impact on you continue employment.

Yeah, I started working at my current job after passing level I. When I told my boss that I passed level II, he said, well of course you did.

Darn, I didn't get that? Did you get that? I resign!

Atlanta, very funny.

I don't know how employers can ask for L1 in entry level position when this designation is for those who are already working in the industry with experience.

As everyone mentioned, you can't expect an increase just by L1. Shoot, I didn't even get a congratulation lunch.
