Friends.. pls advise..
june 2011- band 7 and dec 2011- band 9..
should i give it another try? or its not my cup of tea?
i have a bach. in commerce & a worthless MBA with no work experience

I will tell you my experience.. Took Level 1 in December 2010, failed and was in band 2, was busy with work and decided not to do it in June and took it in December 2011 instead and passed.. As I didn’t take it in June, not sure how difficult it was compared to the last one but you seem not to improve or get closer.. Did you prepare it better? In my case, I knew I just needed a bit more of preparation as I started to late the year before and passing this time tells me I was right. How do you feel about it? Remember not everything in life is getting the CFA designation and it won’t guarantee you a great job…Hope this helps!

ask yourself one question. Did I really put in a solid effort and give it everything I got?
If you know you didn’t try as hard as you could have, it’s not hopeless yet.
But if you put in 100%, it may not be the best idea to keep going.

If you failed because you didn’t study enough, ask yourself if you have the motivation to put in a serious effort next time. If you actually did try hard, then you should probably reassess your decision to participate in this program.

You did show some improvement. If you still have the motivation to keep studying then give it another try. If you’re exhausted and don’t feel you have anything more to give to the exam, then consider taking some time off.

I failed June11 band 5 without studying (too busy for work). Read all CFAI books and did 3 Schweser practice exams + one CFA Society exam, and passed Dec11. I say go for it. Read background material for two months, then start practice exams in mid-April.

Go for it if you want the CFA designation,
In the old days, you had to pass the whole shebang within something like 7 years (or get permission to carry on trying) , but that’s gone now

why don’t you try getting a job first?
Passing CFA level 1 will really do nothing for you imo. It’s just gonna be another filler on top of your MBA when you have zero work experience.

I failed L1 twice because I didn’t study very much at all. Third time, I ACTUALLY STUDIED A LOT and PASSED! Wheeee!

Level II and Level III are much harder so keep that in mind, but band 9 is pretty close so focus on your weak areas and you should be fine.
Focus on the LOS and know when you need to know how to calculate something vs definitions. Know the definitions because they will pop up on the exam and are basically trivial pursuit questions. Easy points that should push you over

I failed Level I once before passing this time around. Make your own decision. No one know you and your circumstances like you do.

Failed level 1 once,
Failed level 2 once,
Failed level 3 twice.
Chartered holder now.
The CFA exams isn’t what you have done in school. You have to study and work, and majority of the time, work comes first!
It’s worth to take it again, as the exam materials only gets easier
whystudy, CFA

My apologies, I messed up with the bands.. so you actually improved and the last timewas very closed . The first time I took it I was also in band 9 so almost there.. I think I didn’t pass because I missed a couple of extra weeks to do exams as I was working at the same time. Did you do mock exams? Also, I would recommend you to start 4 months before and do lots of exams and get some work experience too!
