Level II Retakers

Me.. took it for the first time last year and failed… this will be my second attempt and… hopefully my last

If you could point to any one thing or multiple things that you are doing differently this go around, what would they be? How is your strategy different than last year’s? Just curious to know the pitfalls and adjustments being made.

I’m taking it for the second time. Didn’t put in nearly enough time to pass the last time so knew I would not pass. Below is my plan of attack (I started reading a little in mid-december.)
1. Complete Schweser reading
2. Watch corresponding video on Schweser
3. EOC Schweser questions
4. EOC CFAI questions (For FRA and Equity)
5. Also doing 7 City review courses (in person)
Plan on finishing readings by beginning of May the latest giving me a month of mocks and practice Q’s. Also debating whether I will take 1 week off from work or 2 before the test.
I try and study/ review at least a little bit 5-6 days a week. I know a few people who only study on weekends (and have passed) but I need to read/practice a little each day otherwise I am out of luck.
Also considering doing the Accting class by the guy everyone raves about on these forums.

Pretty much in a similar boat as the direct post above. But my approach this year will be purely the CFAI material and practice questions. Didn’t feel Schweser covered enough. I understood everything but not enough depth to tackle some of the exam questions.
More hours will help too! Last minute studying may work for L1 but definitely not going to be complacent for L2 again.

I think the biggest issue for me is that I didn’t spend nearly as much time doing practice questions… I plan on doing at least three interations of the CFAI EOC… And any other set of questions that I can find that is similar to the actual exam.
The biggest part that got me was the question format… QBank and many of the other places where you can get a ton of questions are still in ask/answer format… which is soooo different than the actual exam…

I used the Stalla Enhanced System last year (includes videos). I spent 400+ hours going through the readings, videos and practice questions, but still did not pass (band 6). This year, I am using the Schweser books and videos. Two things I am doing differently this year are as follows:
Writing my own notes; and
Focusing on really, really, really understanding the material as I read it.
I found that if I spend the time doing the two things above, all of the practice questions straightforward, and most of the answers I get wrong are a result of not reading the question carefully. Hopefully this will change the result in June.

I agree with MK514. The pain for me was that I wanted to practice just FCFF and FCFE questios and not all questions from the entire reading. Clark, from my “Focused Practice Q’s” thread said you coudl do this with Schweser by doing the below. Props to Clark for the help.
You can do something more targeted with QBank:
Click “Browse Questions” in the left pane.
Click Equity Valuation.
Click Equity Investments (SS 12)
Click FCF Valuation (Reading 40)
Then choose a particular LOS, e.g., LOS d, “Calculate FCFF and FCFE”

I intend to solve more problems tnis time, do many more mock exams.

This really worries me! I’d think this would be enough. Sh**!!
By the way, what are these “bands” I hear people talking about on these forums?

2nd attempt this year. Gonna redo last year’s mock exam, this year’s mock exam. Relied entirely on Schweser last year and felt I didn’t get a good enough understanding of the material; This year going to read CFAI text entirely and drill the EOCs to hell
