Why does passing this exam feel like life or death. I didn’t feel this way when I passed level two. Is it the fact that you can see the CFA summit and there is a lingering fear that you have to go back down to level 3 base camp and start again…
I am just so fu*king afraid of failing. Probably impacted the level of pre-test anxiety I had before the test and my poorer than normal performance on the AM section.
Anyways, I wish everyone who has participated in the forums and helped me over the last year nothing but the best and passing grades on the 9th.
 
I haven’t experienced the feeling, as I will be taking the Level III exam for the first time in 2017, but I would imagine the answer is in your first couple of sentences. Failing Level II hurts, but you know you still have another exam level to tackle so the goal line doesn’t feel as close. With Level III, it’s 4th down and goal from the two yard line with 10 seconds on the clock, and you need a touchdown to win the game. You can see it right there, it’s so close, so failing to score hurts a lot more, and the anxiety leading up to the final outcome is even greater.
 
That’s how it feels for me. It was okay spending my mornings and some evenings in the library in my early/mid 20’s but I feel super burned out now.
 
I honestly hope everyone on this Board passes. We have all worked so hard and come so far. Its time to move onto something else and put this phase of life behind us.

I know that the CFAI won’t let you know if you get a perfect score, or even notify you performed the best among all candidates on the exam. But do you think they would tell you if you’re first to receive your score on Tuesday? I think that would be a lot cooler than just passing with 10,000 other people. Frankly, passing, already knowing that I was the first to find out my score, would be the metaphorical cherry on the sundae that is knowing before all of you.
 
I gained 13 lbs.studying for L3. No time to work out plus stress-induced binging. I’m trying to lose that back now. Truth is, this program can be downright unhealthy, another reason I’m not sure I would retake it I failed, the other one being 2 toddlers I’ll need to better help my wife take care of. So the life/death (as a CFA candidate) is a very real feeling indeed.

I’m not sure I follow. Wouldn’t you assume this is an automated batch process? I doubt there’s someone sitting at a computer clicking them off one by one.
 
I would say I lost weight using caffeine diet and not working out. Tis life or death I am convinced the stress of these exams + full time job will push somebody over the edge one day, if not already.
 
I have elevated blood pressure and hair loss attributed to the program.. its unhealthy really. i can’t recommend young people start this.
 
i don’t know if its the reason, I have been suffering from viral infection (according to doctor)..having night sweats …it could all be just anxiety…as I suffered from anxiety in university days ….
 
Because this is the final of the three exams to get the three letters in afew hours or else wait for another year.
