So I started studying in the middle of December, I read all of the Schweser books once. I’m going back through all of them for a second time (I’m currently about a third of the way through FSA). I’m looking for someone who enjoys helping others? I just need someone to kind of take an interest in my progress and possibly colaborate with. That someone can also be multiple someones- if there are numerous generous individuals reading this… I’m incredibly passionate about passing, but much like most, I’m a nervous wreck and have very little confidence. If anyone’s interested in my baggage, I would be forever grateful.

If you truely want to pass this. And you have an avg IQ, or even a bellow avg IQ, you have nothing to worry about and you would pass it.
I dont mind giving you advice, my email is public.
I also can answer your technical* questions, even though in reality the CFAI books and Schweser pretty much leave nothing for you to ask…

More than questions pertaining to the CFA material, I’m really just concerned about my studying techniques. I devote a lot of time to studying, I’m just worried that I’m not maximizing my productivity. I don’t know a lot of other people who have taken any levels of the CFA so I’m not sure what really works. I want to make sure what I’m doing is carrying me in the right direction as opposed to being counterproductive.

you can search around this forum and find plenty of tips. Nothing beats hard work and diligence, focus. Do as many problems as possible, multiple times. Ask questions on here and be able to explain things in your own words. Find an in-person or phone study partner. Don’t get bogged down on your first read-through, and use Schweser.

This question may be answered elsewhere, for those who passed L1 and used Schweser study materials, are the questions on the actual exam similar to the Schweser questions?

I feel like this post would do well on the Craigslist “Personals” section or similar website.

Yeah… except it’s pertaining to the CFA and this blog is dedicated to… the CFA

grharmeyer – it sounds like you are definitely on track, and way ahead of many people who are just going through the notes for the first time.
as many other people have said, for the most part it’s not the difficulty of the material that sees people fail, it’s the volume. therefore you need to make sure you are studying in a manner that helps you retain as much as possible. this will be different for everybody.
in order to be doing CFA you must have a degree, therefore have experience with studying for big exams. what worked for you then? personally i find flashcards extremely helpful, and taking notes as opposed to just reading. but I know others prefer watching videos and other techniques.
just make sure you are being honest with yourself about your understanding of the material and your ability to remember it. Can you do most of the EOC questions after studying a chapter? if you go back to them a week later, can you still remember how to answer them? – focus your study on improving your weak spots, not revising stuff you already know (this is definitely a trap i fall into, especially when feeling tired).
lastly: assuming 70% is enough to pass this exam, you can afford to get 36 questions wrong per exam session – ie 72 overall – and still make it through. you do NOT have to get absolutely everything right.
So chill out a bit, and focus on studying rather than worrying. A bit of fear is good in that it motivates you to work hard, but don’t let it get to the point where it’s hindering your progress.
good luck .
cheers

grmayer, you make me feel like im the only girl in the world.

… I happen to know exactly what you need to do to pass, but it’s just too hard to type it all out here. Sorry man.
Perhaps if you can throw out some specific, targeted questions someone could help. That’s basically the whole purpose behind this forum.

Some very weird responses (e.g. Craigs list!!!). Anyway, I feel your pain in finding a good mentor to help your career. But help is at hand my friend! Check out *******, specificallty made so people can become a mentor in the industry or so people can get a mentor to help their career. Wall Street Oasis also have a similar setup (although more expensive).

I hear edupristine has some top notch advisors with only the finest advice. All the smartest guys use them.

Hi there,
I am a CFA Charterholder and would be happy to help you. First thing I would say is I wouldn’t read through the books again, I would start doing lots of question practice and that will show you what you are good at, which will be lots and where you need work. Main thing is don’t panic, it will be fine.
You can get me on [email protected] and follow me on twitter @freecfa
