To be honest, since the full curriculum is now standard with registration, instead of getting the study notes, get the QBank and tell your junior to spend the $150 dollars on Scwesher practice tests and $50 bucks a pop for the CFA sample tests.
He can go through each LOS using the Qbank with detailed questions checking his comprehension from the Curriculum readings, and there is no better way to prepare for the form of the test than to keep yourself to three hours for 120 questions on the practice tests. Unfortunately, the best way to pass this thing is to read the curriculum, but I don't know his/her committment level.
I think you can get the QBank by itself for another $150, but I could be wrong...
