Macros- Excel

Can anyone reccommend any good books/courses, etc on how to learn Macros-Excel for the finance field ( e.g building and maintaining models)

I am not very familiar with this program and want to know if a finance job says "Excel Macros" programming experience, they are referring to Excel VBA.

Can this be self taught?

Excel VBA Programming for Dummies is a pretty good primer / reference. There are some more specific texts on using vba for modelling as well, although many people say you can't really learn modelling from a book (beyond the basics).
