To anyone here from Sydney,

In past years, the Sydney Society ran a mock exam day under full exam condition 2 weeks before the real thing. Does anyone know if there is one this year?

They were really helpful.

Good luck everyone!

have you checked their webpage? or you could phone them.

'Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn.'

I emailed them yesterday. Got back a reply from someone saying she will let the board know that people are interested. Judging from that it doesn't sound like they have anything organised this year. And it's probably a little late?

Sydneybound, which level are you sitting? Or have you finished? I am doing L3 and I am dreading it. I am very nervous about the written part...

Nice to here from someone in Oz here.

finished dude, just got the charter the other day. good luck. thinking back, i shudder at the thought of having to rewrite.

were you at the cfa lunch earlier this week? with the guy from applied finance group?

Hi Sydneybound

I am so jealous of you. I don't know how you did it. Level 3 is pretty bad. There are lots of lists of things to remember. On one hand I wish it was over but on the other hand I wish I have more time. Man I DO NOT want to repeat this experience again next year!

No I wasn't at the lunch. Must be someone else.

Just got an email from CFAS, they are running the mock exam! Lucky I reminded them?

koz, would you prefer these practice exams over CFA online exams? Any comments on the usefulness of these exams. Thanks

level 3 is @#$%&, its the one level where i got the least amount of usable information out of. its almost like they tried to teach you some soft skills but fail miserably. i finished in 2004, so its been a while.

bluemoon,

The Sydney society's mock exam is from the Boston society's. I found them to be fairly close to the actual thing in terms of the level of difficulty. Last year's level 2 CFAI exams were simpler than the real thing. While the Schweser were too hard. However last year's mock were not all item set though. Most are simple multiple choices. But they were I felt similar to the real thing. So I got some value out of it.

sydneybound,

i envy you. level 3 is hell. I didn't know why I was worried about level 1 looking back. It's very wishy washy. And I am not at all confident. I feel like giving up - although it sounds like a terrible shame coming this far. :( I prefer level 2 - although I did level 1 in Dec and 2 in June so preparation time was tight. But I feel I have less of a chance passing the level 3. There are times I wondered why I am putting myself through this - given I am not even in finance. I am a software engineer in telco!
