I took the practice tests for both Stalla and Schweser and found that Stalla is more difficult three times than the Schweser. Has anyone also observed this? Which do you think is more difficult the actual CFA test, Schweser or Stalla? Thanks in advance for your input.

Schweser book 7 is harder than Stella. shweser book 6 is easier than Stella.

actual exam has a spectrum of its own. study provider questions involves numerous calculations. For the actual exam, I used my calculator for about 30% of the test. They are more analytical questions, and add this to the test anxiety, you can't compare the actual exam to any study providers.

That being said, practice exams are the best way to prepare for the exam. They are a wonderful source of review, so don't put them aside. do as many as possible and always go back to find your mistakes. Understand the concepts, don't memorize.

I wonder why all the practice exams seem to focus, somewhat, on calculations, while many reports from the actual exam reflect what you are saying, in that calculations are not the majority of questions?

I think calculations help ram the concepts into your system so the more calculations you do the better.

I agree, except conceptually, the calculations are a relatively small part of the overall material. I mean, knowing that lowered NI reduces return ratios is good and all, but doesnt help if you need to know, say, the effects of switching from lifo to fifo on those same return ratios.
