I’m seriously going to fail. My algebra skills are so bad. They really are.
I’m noticing as I’m calculating futures prices of foreign currency rates that I’m spending a lot of time crunching the numbers.
It seems to me that $1.52/Yen x (1.06)^88/365 / (1.04)^88/365 = $1.527/Yen
which is the same as $1.52/Yen x (1.06/1.04)^88/365 = $1.527/Yen
Right???
I’m so frustrated today.

Im right there with you. Had to relearn a lot of the exponent rules and Im only a couple years out of school. I couldnt imagine trying to do some of this stuff if I’d been leaning on excel for a decade or so.
Itd be nice to see a section on exponents, natural logs and maybe a conceptual overview of what a derivative (math, not finance) means. I think itd go a long way in helping folks understand what some of these formulas mean, rather than just memorizing them.
