Hey Everybody,
I appreciate the candid advise given on this board--perhaps you can throw some my direction.
I'm 40 years old (just retired from 20 years active duty Air Force.) I'm currently enrolled in two Masters programs (MBA from University of Tulsa, and M.S. (Financial Analysis focus) from College of Financial Planning.) I plan I challenging the CFA after completing M.S. degree (and might even challeng the CFP.)
My goals have always been to be a PM or analysis; obviously by the time I finish my education I won't be entering into the industry until I'm about 43.
I'm a realist, so what are my options?

Here is a story of an ex-Marine guy who found a home at Sanford Bernstein as a Research Associate. Thought you might find it inspirational:

Inspirationional indeed! Thank you for taking the time to find, copy and post that link.

You are welcome, and good luck with job search. It might not be bad idea for you to send this person an email to start networking. The email address should be [email protected] (I am guessing from that of my other contacts there). If it doesn't work and you want to call him, I can probably get you or at least front desk's phone#.

It is never too late to turn make a transition. Start your networking early and try and do an internship or two before graduation. I have a friend of mine who for various reasons didn't finish her undergrad until she was 30+ and was interviewing for Junior level positions while pretty pregnant. When she first started the process, she thought nobody would give her a chance, but she explained her story pretty effectively and is doing some pretty exciting work. It's all in the way you market it. Good luck.
